Prior to commencement of employment at Step by Step, all staff, students, work experience and volunteers undergo an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check.

This is in line with the registration requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council.

All childcare workers must hold or be working towards a recognised childcare qualification

Lynn Brands

Established Step By Step Nursery in 1994. She then moved to live abroad with her family in 2001 but has working trips back to the Nursery and is in daily contact with the Manager. Lynn is a qualified nursery practitioner, starting her career in childcare in 1979.

Jan Massie

Joined Step by Step as a nursery practitioner in 1997 and has worked in childcare since 1992. Jan has worked in many roles during her time at the Nursery including nursery supervisor, assistant and co-manager before taking up her post as sole manager in 2009. She holds both childcare and management qualifications.

Kelly Lumsden

Kelly joined the team at Step by Step in 2002 and has experienced many years in childcare since 1992. She holds relevant childcare qualifications and core training in child protection, first aid and food hygiene.

Staff Training

At Step By Step we fully recognise the importance of ongoing professional development with all staff receiving initial core training in Child Protection, First Aid and Food Hygiene. Thereafter, they regularly attend external and in-house training.
